Current Projects
- Trauma Registry — we have actively worked in the entry and testing phases of a trauma registry program. Our primary involvement is in the data entry and analysis of a registry based in hospitals in three provinces and five hospitals in the region of Morona Santiago, Ecuador.
- Aerial Registry — we have actively entered and analyzed data in a registry of medical evacuation flights from isolated jungle regions of Ecuador.
- Journal Club — we meet regularly to discuss articles that relate to Global Surgery, Global Health and Trauma Data. Our previous journal clubs have included:
- Evaluation of surgical capabilities of hospitals in developing countries.
- The burden of surgical disease and global surgery.
- Lessons to learn from MVCs in developing countries.
- Applying the Essentials of Trauma Care Guidelines.
- Pan American Trauma Society Student Committee — We actively participate in the Pan American Trauma Society and our past president, Esther Johnston, and our current President, Sid Dante have served as Co-Chair of the Committee.
